Harold Becker is an American film director and producer born on September 25, 1928, in New York City. He is best known for directing several hit Hollywood movies such as Taps (1981), Vision Quest (1985), Sea of Love (1989), Malice (1993), and Mercury Rising (1998). Becker started his career making documentaries and advertising films. He then transitioned to feature films in the 1970s and quickly became a respected name in the industry. He is known for his ability to make action and suspense films with strong character development and emotional depth. Over the years, Becker has received many awards and nominations for his work, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Short Subject in 1965 for his film The Confession. He continues to be an active filmmaker today and is considered one of the top directors in Hollywood.
